STURGIS, MI (WTVB) - A Sturgis woman who thought she might be able to evade police by taking her Jeep cross country will face a list of charges as the New Year begins. Sturgis Police Officers knew the woman behind the wheel didn’t have a valid driver’s license when they tried to pull her over in the 400 block of North Lakeview late Sunday morning. She refused to stop, leading officers to Schimmel Road, where she left the roadway onto the snow covered grass and drove around behind the St Joseph County Intermediate School Distrct Building.
State Police and county deputies joined the chase and were able to cut off the 43-year-old Sturgis woman. She was arrested for fleeing and eluding, driving without a valid license, reckless driving and obstructing.
