COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Today is National Wear Red Day to spark conversations about the dangers of heart disease, particularly in women. February is also National Heart Month and today is the day you are being asked to not only wear your heart on your sleeve, but everywhere else as well.
State Senator Tonya Schuitmaker of Lawton says that over the past 10 years, the Go-Red-for-Women movement has saved an estimated 600,000 lives. That’s why she sponsored a state resolution also declaring today “Wear Red Day” in Michigan, to raise awareness about the dangers of heart disease and to get the message out that it can be prevented.
Employees of the Community Health Center of Branch County were among those who partcipated in National Wear Red Day last year.
