COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - The campgrounds at the Branch County fairgrounds in Coldwater are in for some improvements. State Representative Ken Kurtz of Coldwater announced Tuesday that Branch and Hillsdale counties will each receive a state grant to help upgrade their fairgrounds as part of a new statewide agricultural grant program.
Kurtz says agriculture is a very important part of life and the county fairs are special events for everyone. According to Kurtz, it’s great that both counties took advantage of this new grant program so area families can enjoy the local fairs for decades to come. Hillsdale County is using its grant for livestock improvements. The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development awarded grants between $1,000 and $20,000 for 20 improvement projects throughout Michigan. All grants require a dollar-for-dollar match by the local fair.
