Michigan and Michigan State are now tied with top-ranked Indiana for first place in the Big Ten all at 8-and-2 in conference play after Indiana was upset last night 74-to-72 at Illinois.
An inbounds play with ninth-tenths of a second left on the clock ended the instant classic with Illinois scoring an uncontested layup just before the buzzer to stun the Hoosiers, who had a double-digit lead with under 4-and-a-half minutes remaining. That makes it five straight weeks that the number-one team in the Associated Press poll has been knocked off.
