COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - K2. Spice. Synthetic marijuana. Whatever you want to call it, it's hitting closer to home than ever before. Three Coldwater Township children between the ages of 12 and 13 were discovered by Michigan State Police troopers from the Coldwater Post to have smoked K2. Troopers initially acted in response to a report of a child walking alongside North Behnke Road Friday afternoon wearing shorts and socks and described to be "out of it". The children were taken by LifeCare Ambulance to the Community Health Center of Branch County's emergency room, where they were treated and released. The State Police is asking anyone with additional information regarding the incident to contact the Post at 517-278-2373 or Crime Stoppers at 574-288-STOP.
K2 and other synthetic marijuana formulations can cause psychotic reactions; they were banned under legislation signed into law by President Obama last July.
