UNDATED (WKZO) -- This weekend is going to be a great time to take advantage of this week’s (UNDATED) -- Snow fall for some outdoor fun. If that includes sledding than an emergency room doctor in West Michigan has some advice.
Safety experts say try to slide feet first when ever possible, and bring along that bike helmet to protect your noggin.
Most of the sledding injuries they are seeing are sprained and fractured wrists from falling and running into things.
Law Enforcement officials also have a warning for drivers of big-boy sleds. They say snowmobiles and conventional traffic do not mix.
They site the fate of a Greenville man who tangled with a snow plow at Vanhoose and Simpson Roads 52 year old Alan Hopkins suffered a broken leg and ribs on Friday.
An Ottawa County man has died from a heart attack after shoveling snow from his driveway. It happened in the 4900 block of Eisenhower Dr. in Hudsonville. The man, said to be in his early 40’s took on the wet heavy snow and lost.
Doctors say pace your-self. The cold air and exercise puts an additional strain on your heart. If you feel arm pain, shortness of breath or chest pain, call for an ambulance.
