QUINCY, MI (WTVB) - In Branch County high school sports last night, in non-conference girls basketball, Quincy went down to defeat at home to Mendon 44-to-22. Sarah Ward had 10 points, 7 steals and 5 rebounds for Quincy, which slips to 2-and-14. Also, Union City was a winner at Centreville 55-to-41 in a makeup game postponed last month because of icy roads. Brooke Johnson had 24 points in the victory which improved Union City’s record to 4-and-13. Also last night, Tekonsha lost 61-to-20 at Battle Creek St. Philip.
Tonight’s high school schedule includes boys and girls basketball with Coldwater vs. Marshall with the boys action at Marshall and Coldwater hosting the girls games. We’ll have the boys contest on the radio and streaming the audio on line at wtvbam.com. Our live coverage from Marshall on AM 1590 and FM 95.5 begins at seven o’clock with the tip-off set for 7:15 following the junior varsity game, which is scheduled to start at 5:45.
Also tonight, in boys play only, in the Big Eight Conference, Quincy hosts Homer and it’s Union City at Athens. Also, Tekonsha hosts Battle Creek St. Philip.

In middle school sports yesterday, in girls basketball, the Coldwater eighth grade teams dropped a pair of games at Sturgis. The Trojans won the “A” game 41-to-22. Megan Lippert had 13 points for Coldwater with 8 rebounds for Hannah Parrish. Sturgis took the “B” game 33-to-18. Sierra Wolfcale had 11 points for Coldwater.
In the seventh grade action at Coldwater there was a split as the Lady Cardinals beat Sturgis in the “A” game 26-to-17 with 9 points for Jamie Willett and eight for Izabella Foley. Coldwater lost the “B” game 32-to-8 with four points for Nadia Kiersey.
Bronson swept a pair of games at Centreville. The eighth grade team beat the Bulldogs 34-to-23 with 10 points for Allie Sikorski and 11 rebounds for Jill Pyles. And Bronson won the seventh grade game 27-to-19 with 13 points for Payton Robinson and 8 rebounds for Meghan Vaughn.
