EAST LANSING, MI (WTVB) - Eighth-ranked Michigan State last night destroyed rival number-4 Michigan 75-to-52 at the Breslin Center in the series' first-ever Top-10 matchup. The Spartan’s home crowd went crazy as M-S-U led by 14 at halftime and pushed the advantage to 30 points after the break as both teams are now 21-and-4. But the win gives Michigan State sole possession of first place in the Big Ten at 10-and-2 in the league, two games up on 8-and-4 Michigan and a half-game ahead of top-ranked Indiana. The Wolverines and Spartans will have a rematch March Second in Ann Arbor. Freshman Gary Harris scored 17 points in last night’s win while Derrick Nix netted 14 points and Keith Appling added 11 points for M-S-U. Trey Burke had a game-high 18 points for Michigan. The Spartans were the third Top-10 opponent Michigan has faced in its last four contests.

Michigan State’s next game is Saturday at Nebraska while Michigan on Sunday will host Penn State.

Tonight’s schedule includes Western Michigan in a MAC game on the road against Bowling Green.
