DETROIT (WKZO) -- Central Michigan University is considering adding a campus in downtown Detroit.

Thursday, the Mount Pleasant university's board of trustees discussed the possible creation of a campus downtown, near Campus Martius.  Currently, CMU has seven campuses in southeastern Michigan and offers roughly 350 classes in the Detroit region.

If approved, the new campus could be in place by 2014.
