Torii Hunter, the ex-Twin and Angel and now the Tigers new right fielder and number-2 hitter, arrived Thursday in Lakeland, where the team’s first full squad workouts are set for today at Joker Merchants Stadium. The 37-year old Hunter told a news conference he’s excited to be with Detroit and said the Tigers have the best pitching rotation of the clubs he’s played for. And with 15 years major league experience, he said that he hopes to be a mentor of-sorts to Tigers’ leadoff hitter-centerfielder Austin Jackson. Detroit’s spring training opener is a week from today against the Braves.
