Quincy teen playing with fake weapon puts State Police on alert

QUINCY, MI (WTVB) - A young teenager from Quincy may have thought he was just pretending and playing around but it was no game for the Michigan State Police. Troopers were called around 5:40 p.m. Friday to investigate a subject dressed in camouflage, carrying a suspected firearm. The person was described as hiding in pine trees and sneaking around a neighborhood in Quincy Township, just west of the village along Lawrence Street near Quincy-Grange road. At one point, the suspect was reported to be lying on the ground, pointing what looked to be a firearm at a residence.

Arriving troopers quickly located the subject and found it was a 14-year old boy, dressed in what is called a ghillie suit, clothing designed to resemble heavy foliage. He was in possession of an air soft gun, which was also camouflaged so the orange tip was hidden. The teen was turned over to his mother shortly after the incident was checked out. State Police say no charges will be sought at this time.
