LANSING (WKZO) -- The issue of medical marijuana in Michigan will take a new turn as a state representative plans to introduce a bill allowing local officials to rule on the sale of the drug in their community.

Republican Mike Calton has the support of seven other Republicans and eight Democrats for his bill.  The Michigan Supreme Court ruling earlier this month appears to make medical marijuana dispensaries illegal.

Attorney General Bill Schuette is expected to notify all county prosecutors statewide to close down those businesses.  Calton says while a bill similar to his was defeated last year, he believes this measure will pass because it has bi-partisan support.
