UNDATED (WKZO) -- The White House has detailed what will happen to each state if the sequester goes into effect this Friday.  A number of Michigan programs would take big hits or be cut entirely if the 85-billion in across the board cuts takes effect nationally.

Congress needs to act this week and it doesn’t look like they are going to be able to come to an agreement. It would mean a 140-million dollar hit in Michigan.

10-thousand civilian Department of defense employees would be furloughed, and 14-million would be cut from military base operations.

McComb County hosts Selfridge Air Force Base and Executive Mark Hackel is bracing for the worst.

Also to be cut 22-million in funding for public schools, mainly in poorer urban areas, and 20.3 million for teachers and teachers-aids for children with disabilities.  That would be a loss of about 540 teachers’ state wide.

Money for Law enforcement, environmental funding, job assistances, meals for the elderly, substance abuse treatment, college financial aid and 23-hundred head start slots would also be lost.
