BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) - A reminder that Branch County Road Commission seasonal road weight restrictions are now in effect as of 6 a.m. today. The Road Commission says maximum allowable axles loading on all County roads will be strictly enforced. Agricultural Commodity and Public Utility Exemption permits are required and will be enforced. They allow hauling of loads of 80,000 lbs. during frost laws or enforcement of weight restrictions.
The restrictions are as follows: 9 ft or over spacing between axles, the maximum axle loading is 11,700 pounds while for less than 9 ft but more than 3 ft., 6 in., it’s 8,450 lbs. Normal legal loads must be reduced by 35% on paved roads and 25% on concrete roads for all “Non-Exempt”. Tickets will be issued for violators. The Road Commission says a list of the “ALL SEASON ROADS” will be furnished upon request.
