LANSING (WKZO) -- Legislation that clarifies the definition of a federal firearms dealer is headed to Governor Snyder's desk after getting approval in the Senate Tuesday. It's one of more than a dozen bills being reviewed by the state legislature.
Prior to the December massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut, Governor Snyder was set to sign the entire package but the shootings prompted a review of those bills. Those include shifting of responsibility for issuing concealed weapons from counties to the state police department as well as allowing anyone, including school employees, to carry weapons into schools.
Another bill expands the types of facilities that will be allowed to enforce a gun-free zone, prohibiting anyone from carrying a concealed weapon into the building.
