The Pistons blew a 17-point fourth quarter lead but withstood a charge from Atlanta to hold off the Hawks 85-to-84 last night at the Palace. Austin Daye had 20 points off the bench with six rebounds while Greg Monroe added 18 points and nine boards for Detroit’s season-high fourth straight victory. The 13-and-22 Pistons play tomorrow night at Charlotte.
Texas A & M Beat Oklahoma In Fiesta Bowl and Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel has capped off a dream freshman season, as his Texas A&M Aggies routed the Oklahoma Sooners 41-13 in the Cotton Bowl. Manziel put in a record-breaking performance, running for a couple of touchdowns and throwing for two more. He set an FBS bowl record for most rushing yards by a quarterback with 229. He also completed 22-of-34 passes for 287 yards.
And Michigan State junior defensive end William Gholston has confirmed he’ll be leaving the Spartans early and declare for the NFL draft.
