BELDING (WKZO) -- A Greenville man has been killed in a shootout with Belding Police.
Officers heard shots outside the Belding Police Station a little after 5:00 Saturday morning. They say 55 year old Bernard “Bud” Rawley Jr. had shot out the windows in a patrol car.
He jumped in a white van and sped away with police in pursuit. When they cornered him, he came out firing and died when a Belding officer returned fire.
His Nephew, Jerry Wright, said he had been depressed for sometime.
The Belding officer who shot Rawley has been put on paid administrative leave while State Police perform a routine review of the shooting.
