DETROIT, MI (WTVB) - It’s pipeline protest day including in Michigan. A demonstration is planned for this afternoon outside the Chase Bank in Downtown Detroit by a group opposing the bank's funding of the controversial Keystone XL Pipeline.
Of particular concern are plans for the pipeline to transport not only synthetic crude oil but potentially environmentally damaging oil sands to various locations throughout the U.S. Keystone XL has faced numerous lawsuits from oil refineries as well as criticism from environmentalists and legislators. The protest in Detroit is one of many planned across the country today
