DETROIT (WKZO) -- Longtime Kwame Kilpatrick friend Derrick Miller has testified at the government corruption trial about kickback and bribe schemes during the former mayor's administration.
Miller Monday described strategy meetings with co-defendants Bernard Kilpatrick, Bobby Ferguson, and the mayor himself, and attempts to evade investigations. Miller's attorney Byron Pitts says his client admitted to tax evasion, but the version of events is credible.
Miller also told jurors about using the Kilpatrick Civic Fund for personal expenses, taking cash bribes from a Cobo Hall contractor to Kilpatrick, and steering state grant money to a Carlita Kilpatrick project.
