COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - Coldwater City Police today released the name of the man injured midmorning Tuesday when he was struck by a car at the intersection of East Chicago and Michigan Avenue. It happened around 10:30 a.m. 53-year old Larry Dean Carl was walking across the street when he was struck by a driver behind the wheel of a Ford Focus that was headed northbound on Michigan. The car driver was John Starr of Coldwater. Carl was airlifted from the scene to Bronson hospital in Kalamazoo with apparent serious head injuries. The hospital is not releasing any information on Carl.
Coldwater Public Safety Director Mark Bartell says neither speed nor alcohol were involved.
