Killer flu season continues to escalate in Michigan and across the U.S.

UNDATED (WKZO) -- There have now been 285 confirmed cases of the flu statewide. Three children have died from the illness in the state and 18 nationally. Additionally a Genesee county teen died over the weekend after experiencing flu-like symptoms. Tests are being conducted to determine if it was the flu.

National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Disease Director Dr. Anthony Fauci says this year's flu season is shaping up to be the worst in a decade.

Dr. Fauci says it's important everyone gets vaccinated, and practice good hygiene. He says with three more months of flu season still to go, it has yet to peak.
