BRONSON, MI (WTVB) - In Branch County high school sports last night, in wrestling, all of the county teams were in action including a dominating performance by Bronson as the host Vikings defeated cross county rival Coldwater 72-to-6 and they also beat Marshall 71-to-9. Bronson is ranked seventh in the state in Division Four in the updated poll released yesterday. Previously, the Vikings were listed as fourth in the state.
Also last night in wrestling, Quincy was a winner on the road with a 57-to-22 victory over Athens/Climax Scotts. The Orioles had seven pin wins, including those posted by Tyler Massey, Luke Weiser, Jacob Massey, Tyler Smith, Jacob Modert, Nate Smith, and Clay McKinley. The victory improved Quincy’s record to 2-and-2 in the Big Eight and 7-and-8 overall.
Also in the Big Eight, Union City fell 55-to-12 at Springport. The Chargers’ points came on wins from Jared Shepard and Taylor Howard. Union City slips to 8-and-9 overall and 2-and-2 in the conference. The host Spartans improved to 4-and-0 in the Big Eight.
On tonight’s high school schedule, in boy’s and girl’s basketball, it’s Quincy vs. Homer with the boy’s game at Homer and the girl’s contest in Quincy. Also, in boy’s hoops only, Union City is at home against Athens and Tekonsha hosts Colon. Tonight’s reserve basketball schedule includes Coldwater against Gull Lake with the boy’s playing in Coldwater and the girl’s at Gull Lake. The boy’s tip off at 4:15 with the freshman game with the j-v contest set for 5:45.
And there’s gymnastics tonight with Coldwater at Sturgis.
