For the first time since 1996, the Baseball Writers' Association of America will not be electing anyone to the Hall of Fame. None of the eligible candidates, including former Tigers Jack Morris and Alan Trammell, received the required 75-percent of votes for election. Morris received 67.7 percent, while Trammell received 33.6. Former
Astros infielder Craig Biggio was the closest with 68-percent of the vote. First-time eligibles Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds and Sammy Sosa fell short as well. Clemens got 37.6-percent, Bonds 36.2-percent and Sosa just 12.5-percent.
