STEUBEN COUNTY, IN (WTVB) - Take your pick - facial injuries and an open leg fracture or taking time to buckle your seat belt. Around 4 o’clock this morning, the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department said a car driven by 20-year old Kyle Hutchison of Angola was travelling South on Van Builder Road towards State Road 120 when it left the roadway and collided with a tree.  Kyle complained of facial injuries and was transported to Cameron Hospital for treatment. 

The front seat passenger, 26-year old Nicole Velkoff of Angola, had an open leg fracture and was flown from the scene by Lutheran Air to Parkview in Ft. Wayne for Treatment.  Seat belts were not in use by either occupant. Deputies say the use of seat belts would have dramatically decreased the severity of the injuries. The road surface was wet at the time of the crash which is still under investigation
