22nd ranked Michigan State rallied last night for a Big Ten road win over Iowa 62-to-59. The visiting Spartans were down by as many as 12 in the first half and didn’t take their first lead until there were about 9 minutes left in the game. Branden Dawson scored a career-high 17 points for MSU while Gary Harris had 14 and Keith Appling had 12 and went 4-for-4 from the line in the final 20 seconds to help hold off the Hawkeyes, who were playing without their injured leading scorer Devyn Marble. A key play in the game came late in the second half when dawson forced a turnover and finished with a thunderous dunk Michigan State improved to 13-and-3 and 2-1 in the Big Ten while Iowa is 0-and-3 in the conference and 11-and-5 overall. The Spartans next game is Sunday at home against Nebraska.
There’s one less undefeated top-five team today as fourth ranked Arizona suffered its first loss last night 70-to-66 at Oregon.
