Michigan missed its chance Sunday to take over the top spot in the polls for the first time in 20 years and also saw its undefeated season vanish as the 2nd-ranked Wolverines lost 56-to-53 at 15th-ranked Ohio State. The Buckeyes blitzed Michigan in the first half, but the Wolverines battled back from 21 points down and eventually tied the score before Ohio State managed to hang on for the victory. Trey Burke led Michigan with 15 points and his potential go ahead three pointer late in the second half rimmed in and out. The Wolverines slide to 16-and-1 while O-S-U moves to 13-and-3 with both teams 3-and-1 in the Big Ten. Michigan has another major test on Thursday when it plays at eighth-ranked Minnesota. Meanwhile, last night, 22nd-ranked Michigan State got a scare at home but was able to hold off Nebraska 66-to-56. The Cornhuskers got to within a point with just under 3-minutes remaining before the Spartans prevailed. Derrick Nix scored 17 points for M-S-U while Adreian Payne had 14 points and Branden Dawson added 12 points and six rebounds. Michigan State has won 3 straight to improve to 3-and-1 in the conference and 14-and-3 overall. The Spartans play Wednesday at Penn State.
