It was a 6-hour plane trip yesterday for the Pistons to London, where they will take on the New York Knicks tomorrow. The tip-off is set for 3 p.m. Eastern Time Thursday. The game at the O-2 will be the seventh NBA contest played there and the arena sold out in four days.
Lion’s wide receiver Calvin Johnson will sit out the 2013 Pro Bowl because of injuries, but Detroit long snapper Don Muhlbach has been added to the NFC roster. Johnson set an NFL single-season record with 1,964 receiving yards this season. Muhlbach, in his ninth-year in the NFL, is the first Lion’s special teams member who is not a kicker, punter or return specialist to be named to the Pro Bowl.
And the Chicago Bears have reportedly found their next head coach. The "Chicago Tribune" is reporting that the "Monsters of the Midway" are set to hire Marc Trestman for the job. Trestman had previously been the head coach of the Canadian Football League's Montreal Alouettes since 2008. The 57-year-old won two Grey Cup's in his time in Montreal. He was an assistant coach in the NFL starting in the mid-80's with a number of teams. This will be his first NFL head coaching job.
