COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - Courthouse security in Branch County has been maintained so far in 2013 and officials would like to keep it that way in the face of drastic budget cuts for operations at the County Sheriff’s Department. Staffing the main entrance to the courthouse where a security officer greets the public and sends them through a metal detector is subject to be impacted by the layoffs that took effect January First at the Sheriff’s Department. The County Board of Commissioner’s Committee of the Whole meets today and the agenda includes grant opportunities to fund courthouse security.
