GIRARD, MI (WTVB) - Domestic violence in Branch County involving alcohol and pit bulls. State Police say that’s what was discovered last night at a home on North Union City Road in Girard Township. Troopers got the call around 9:30 and said they learned that a man was physically assaulted by his girlfriend following an argument.
The 54-year old female suspect went hiding in a bedroom with several pit bulls. Authorities say in the process of securing the scene, a pit bull charged one trooper who was able to escape injury by quickly exiting the residence. According to police, the woman resisted troopers as she was taken into custody. Her name is being withheld pending arraignment. She was jailed on charges of domestic assault and resisting and obstructing.
