KENTWOOD (WKZO) -- The prime suspect in a double murder in Kentwood has been found and arrested in Chicago, and Chief of Police Tom Hillen says they couldn’t have tracked him down without the help of that reward fund.
Javonte Higgins became a person of interest because he had pulled off similar buglaries and because he was staying just blocks away from the home where David and Vivian Bouwman were shot to death. He became a suspect after they searched the place he was living.
Joan Hyde with the FBI says their Fugitive team was relayed information through the Grand Rapids police from a tipster that he may be hiding on the south side of Chicago in a suburb called Blue Island.
Extradition could take a week or two. He his being held on warrants from a previous burglary and car theft from late last year, but murder warrants will be sought.
