Detroit was shorthanded Friday at practice because of various injuries. Forward Darren Helm is nursing a sore back, while defenseman Jakub Kindl and forward Todd Bertuzzi were out with groin injuries. In college hockey, Western Michigan lost 3-to-2 last night at Bowling Green. The Broncos and Falcons have a rematch tonight in Kalamazoo. Michigan won last night 6-to-4 at Lake Superior State where the two teams play again tonight and Michigan State last night fell 2-to-1 to Ferris State at Munn Ice Arena. The Spartans and Bulldogs matchup again tonight with the action shifting to Big Rapids.
