UNDATED (WKZO) -- There are several hundred are still without power in the Kalamazoo area and it appears it may take until sometime tomorrow afternoon before power is restored to everyone in the county. In some cases the localized outages haven’t even been assessed yet.
That’s why the Red Cross is opening a warming center for those who have no power and no heat at home and need a place to stay warm.
Its located at the Senior service center at 918 Jasper Street just south of the Bronson Hospital campus.
It opened at 7pm Sunday evening and will remain open through the night.
Consumers reports that as of Sunday evening 265 homes without power in the Kalamazoo area, 60 in Barry County, 179 in Calhoun County and 642 in Allegan County.
At the peak of the outages, about 75-thousand homes and businesses in west Michigan were in the dark.
They say most should have their power back by Monday afternoon, but a few may not have it back until sometime tomorrow night.
