LANSING, MI   (WKZO) --   2012 was a record year for Amtrak in Michigan. The final ridership figures for the year have been compiled and they show that the three major routes welcomed more riders and took in more money than any time in the service’s history.    The Pere Marquette and the Blue Water run thru Kalamazoo and Battle Creek on their way from Chicago to Detroit and Port Huron.   The Pere Marquette connects Grand Rapids to Chicago by tracing the  Lake Michigan Shore, and stopping in Holland.

Nearly 800,000 passengers paid $27.8-million to ride on one of the trains last year.  Nearly 5 of 8 were on board the Wolverine.
