COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - The Coldwater School Board voted last night to expand the preschool program. Next year, a 4 year old program will be held in the afternoon the three year old program will continue to be held in the morning, the kindercare learning academy and the kindercare childcare center will be held at Lincoln school. According to Lincoln Principal Krista Searles, they have received many phone calls from parents requesting an all-day program. Their goal is to get kids at age three and keep them, through the 12th grade. Coldwater Superintendent Dr Tina Kerr said Branch Intermediate School Districtneeds a place said that they can send their preschoolers to when their sessions are done for the day.
The Coldwater Community Schools Kinder Learning Academy provides a fun, activity-based learning environment that will help kids with kindergarten readiness by encouraging educationally based play with physical activity, field trips, and healthy snacks. For the 2013-14 school year, we will be offering two sections. The morning session, for kids who will be 3 years old by November 1, 2013, will run from 8:30-11:45am Monday through Thursday. The new afternoon session, for kids who will be 4 years old by November 1, 2013, will run from 12:15-3:30 pm Monday through Thursday.
The school has also announced they will be offering childcare services thorough their new KinderCare Childcare Center beginning in the 2013-14 school year. This childcare program services children who will be age 3 by November 1, 2013, through age 5.
These two programs, along with the Kids Club latchkey program for Y5-5th Grade students, will be located at Lincoln Elementary School.
In other action last night, the School Board approved the Coldwater High School Senior Trip to Cincinnati, Ohio.
