Just as we told you they probably would, gas prices in Branch County and across Southwest Michigan have jumped at the pump just in time for the beginning of the busiest travel holiday of the year. They started out low yesterday morning and then around the midday they began to jump 25 to 30 cents a gallon. Most stations are now charging $3.59 for a gallon of self-serve regular. They could go even higher because crude oil prices are up quite a bit to over 100-dollars barrel because of unrest in Egypt.
