FREMONT, IN (WTVB)- Two suspects are in custody in connection with the shooting death early yesterday of a man just south of the Michigan border at Jimmerson Lake near Fremont, Indiana. The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department was called around 3 a.m. Sunday and when deputies arrived at the scene of the incident, they found 29-year old Ruben Sanchez, Jr. of Muncie, Indiana in the front yard suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to Angola’s Cameron Hospital and then transferred to Parkview in Ft. Wayne where he died from his injuries. An autopsy is scheduled for today.
Four search warrants were served in the Jimmerson Lake area, two on homes and two on vehicles. After interviewing several people believed to be involved, two suspects, both from Jimmerson Lake, were arrested. 28-year old Mark Hines was booked on a charge of murder while 18-year old Tyler Lee Biggs faces a charge of aiding in murder. They’re being held without bond pending arraignment. There’s no word on a motive for the shooting as the case remains under investigation.
