COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - Branch County Sheriff John Pollack is making the rounds doing public relations for what seems to be a more customer friendly County Marine Patrol, which was plenty busy during the just finished Fourth of July holiday period. Pollack is praising the patrol’s collaboration with the North Chain of Lakes Association. The group made a donation to the Marine Patrol of PFD’s or life jacket, coming in a range of sizes, so if the Patrol makes a stop, rather than sending the boater off the lake with a ticket, they provide them with a proper PFD, along with any necessary training on what to look for. And after enjoying the rest of the day on the water, a boater can return the life jacket to the Sheriff’s Department or to one of the return stations set up around the lake chain.
Pollack also said the Marine Patrol has partnered with McDonalds and their officers give out coupons from the restaurant when they make a stop and find that the kids in the boat are wearing the proper flotation devices.
