FREMONT, IN (WTVB) - Some information is surfacing on what may have sparked a fatal shooting this past weekend near Fremont, Indiana. The two suspects in custody remain behind bars being held without bond as they still await their formal court arraignment. A Steuben County Judge Monday allowed prosecutors an extra 72 hours to file formal charges against 28-year old Mark Hines and 18-year old Tyler Lee Biggs, both of Jimmerson Lake, where the incident happened early Sunday morning outside the home of Hines.
An autopsy yesterday showed that the victim, a 27-year old man from Muncie, Indiana, was shot 3 times with a 40 caliber handgun with a bullet that struck his liver proving to be the fatal wound. Testimony at a probable cause hearing Monday showed the crime apparently stemmed from an argument that started at a Fourth of July party concerning Hines’ girlfriend and escalated to a fight between the victim and Hines. It’s alleged that Biggs supplied the weapon used in the shooting.
