LANSING (WKZO) -- The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality says the state has a final version of a plan to guide prevention and management of aquatic invasive species. DEQ officials note the ecosystems of the state are already being negatively impacted by the species already present, and there is a big focus on keeping Asian carp out of the Great Lakes. The new plan includes new actions to detect and respond to new invaders and try to control what are already here.
