Supporters of the legalization of medical marijuana have launched an initiative to remind people of that group's spending power. They plan on using a two-dollar bill toward payment of every cash purchase they make. The goal is to illustrate the economic impact of medicinal cannabis users. In the Detroit Free Press, spokesman Steve Greene says that when these two-dollar bills start showing up, "People will also realize, if you arrest us, you're taking that same money out of circulation, and you're spending tax dollars to put us in jail."
There are 130,000 registered users of medical marijuana and 30-thousand caregivers licensed to grow pot in the state of Michigan.
