DETROIT, MI (WTVB) - The Tigers got 3 hits apiece last night from Prince Fielder, Miguel Cabrera, and Victor Martinez as Detroit topped the White Sox 8-to-5 at Comerica Park where they’ll play the rubber game of the 3-game series this afternoon. Fielder’s night included a two-run homer and three RBI’S. The Tigers had plenty of clutch hitting to go around with all 8 runs coming with two outs. Rick Porcello pitched six innings of three-run ball with six strikeouts and no walks to even his record at 6-and-6. Joaquin Benoit closed it out for his eighth save.

The Detroit victory extended their lead atop the American League Central to 3-and-a-half games over the second place Indians as Cleveland lost to the Blue Jays. The Tigers will send Anibal Sanchez to the mound today against White Sox ace Chris Sale.

The Cubs were pounded by the Angels last night 13-to-2 at Wrigley Field.
