ANN ARBOR, MI (WTVB) -It’s quite a turnaround story for Michigan’s Brendan Gibbons when you consider that this week the fifth year senior was named as one of 30 players on the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award watch list for the nation’s top kicker. Back in 2010 after redshirting his freshman year, Gibbons was in the doghouse of then coach Rich Rodriguez, hitting just one of five field goals. The next year, he started every game, making 13 of 17 field goals and last season, Gibbons was All-Big Ten honorable mention, splitting the uprights on 16 of 18 tries without missing any extra points. If he’s good on his first field goal attempt this season, he’ll tie the school record at the U-of-M of 14 straight held by Remy Hamilton.
