BARRY COUNTY, MI (WTVB) - A Barry County man has been charged with second degree murder for allegedly crashing his car into a tree deliberately, killing his pregnant girlfriend and their unborn child. Derrick McElhaney survived, and so did passenger Corey Justice. He told TV-8 that the victim, Faith Allen wanted to end her relationship with McElhaney and start dating Justice. He claims McElhaney became enraged, allegedly announced if he couldn’t have her no one would and slammed into the tree.
That may be why prosecutors have charged him with murder and not manslaughter.
