COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - Once a month the Community Health Center of Branch County (CHC) recognizes one employee that goes above and beyond the standards of customer service and excellent work ethic. The Employee of the Month is nominated by fellow employees who notice what it takes to earn the Employee of the Month achievement. Rene Renshaw, office manager at the Union City Clinic, was selected as the May 2013 Employee of the Month at CHC.
Rene was hired in March 1991, as a time and attendance clerk. She then went on to work at Occupational Health before becoming the office manager at the Union City Clinic. According to her nominator, “I am nominating Rene for the Employee of the Month Award because she holds the Union City Clinic together which is a lot of responsibility. She is the first one to come and ask if we need something, even if it just someone to talk to or a shoulder to lean on. She is always very positive about CHC and she appreciates being able to work here. She has implemented ways to streamline the patient flow which has improved wait times; she is very good at dealing with patient issues; and she cares very much about the patients at the clinic. She is a good leader and it is evident that she really cares about her job.”
Rene graduated from Union City High School. She is married to Ralph who is a self-employed farmer. Rene has four daughters; Cindy Shilton, an Executive Secretary at Kellogg’s; Michelle Swift, who works at Fillmore Equipment in Bronson; Emily Melrose, a stay-at-home mom; and Rebecca Ward, who works as an assistant manager at Horseshoe Casino. She enjoys golfing, sailing, and reading. She is on the Relay for Life committee at CHC and a member of Union City United Methodist Church.
The CHC Employee of the Month program is open to all full-time and part-time employees with six months of continuous employment. The Employee of the Month is selected by a committee that is comprised of former Employees of the Month. Each Employee of the Month receives a special sweatshirt, parking privileges for one month, an Employee of the Month certificate, his or her picture displayed near the cafeteria, Tibbits Summer Theatre tickets, lunch with his or her administrative representative, and the privilege of serving on the Employee of the Month Committee. Each Employee of the Month for the year is then eligible for Employee of the Year, which includes recognition at the annual Employee Recognition Banquet, parking privileges for one year, gift certificates, a jacket, and his or her picture displayed near the cafeteria.
