COVERT, MI (WTVB) - The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold a webinar this evening to discuss the latest incident at the Palisades nuclear plant, specifically the reoccurring leak in a huge tank that stores thousands of gallons of irradiated water used to cool the reactor. It had been leaking into the reactor’s control room. This time the water flowed down into a retention basin that was flushed into Lake Michigan.
NRC Spokesperson Victoria Mitlyng says it was so diluted that it was harmless, a contention that nuclear opponent Kevin Kamps has challenged. They may square off again this evening.
