COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - The heat wave is has cooled off. So how did we do? Local Emergency rooms in Southwest Michigan say they have seen a definite uptick in business but they haven’t been swamped. Coldwater had four straight days with readings of at least 90 degrees beginning on Tuesday. The high for the week was 92 on Thursday.
Dr. David Rossi at Borgess Medical Center’s ER says they have seen about 10% more business this week...everything from heat exhaustion to cases of heat stroke. The longer it dragged on, the more they saw. Dr. Tom Leibold at Bronson Vicksburg says their business was up 15% but that’s because in rural areas, they have less air conditioning and more people working outdoors. Most people managed to cope with the heat without problems.
