DETROIT (WKZO) -- General Motors is leaning on retirees to help launch new vehicles.  The automaker is in the process of introducing 20 all-new or greatly redesigned models in the U.S. this year.

Retirees who specialized in a wide range of vehicle production were hired to help with the new Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra full-size pickup trucks.  It's an important segment of the auto business as the company averages about ten-thousand dollars in profit per truck.

GM officials say they put the retirees at suppliers to help make sure the launch of the vehicles was smooth.
