COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - Several years of what seemed to be promising prospects for developing the old Kerr Hardware building property in downtown Coldwater have come and gone with no success but the latest proposal for a mini-brewery and restaurant appears to gaining interest and momentum. Derrick Bercaw, a native of Bronson, now living in Mason, Michigan and his wife Lisa, have plans to use the Kerr Building for what will called the Coldwater Ale House. Bercaw is a part time assistant brewer for Bad Brewing Company in Mason while working full time as an I-T systems analyst. He tells us his start up investment fund is at least halfway toward its goal of $110,000 and he’s confident it will be achieved by a September 15th deadline. That’s when the Coldwater Ale House hopes to sign a lease with Kerr property developer Jennifer Wingard.
An unspecified restaurant prospect for the building is reportedly waiting for the mini-brewery proposal to be finalized before joining the project.
