COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - Despite afternoon showers that cut short the event by several hours, organizers say the 12th annual Remember the Alamo Cruise in Coldwater was another big success. Classic and vintage cars lined Chicago Street in downtown Coldwater, along with Clay, Hanchett, and Monroe during the height of the event, which was scheduled from 10 am-8 pm. Some cars were parked downtown as early as 8 am Saturday. Dark clouds and a few sprinkles as the cruise got underway kept the crowd down early, but by midday the downtown was very busy.
Light showers around 3 pm and heavier rain shortly after 4 pm chased most of the cars and spectators away, although a few remained for the rest of the afternoon.
The cruise was established to give car enthusiasts a "rolling" car show and salute the former Alamo Drive-In restaurant on Coldwater's west, which is now the location of Butcher's Row Meats.
