Branch County high school sports scene quiet before regionals this weekend

COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - In Branch County high school sports, there’s a break in the action today other than practice time as several county teams continue to get ready for second round state tournament play coming up this week. Saturday features the baseball and softball regionals with Coldwater still alive in both baseball and softball while Quincy plays on in baseball and Bronson in softball. Yesterday, there were a couple of scrimmage games as Coldwater hosted Quincy in baseball and in softball, Coldwater played at Bronson.

There’s boy’s golf with the Regionals set for tomorrow and Friday. In Division Three, two players from Bronson, Robert O’Rourke and Jonah Houtz, qualified for the individual competition on Thursday on the Medalist Golf Course at Olivet. And Coldwater made the field for Friday’s Division Two Regional at the Marshall Country Club.

Today on the Coaches Corner, it’s our final look at Bronson baseball with coach Matt Watkins.
